Please check this post for important information. The mission of Kentucky Historic Institutions is to preserve memories, advocate for the forgotten patients and employees and to educate the public about the individual histories of Kentucky’s asylums, hospitals and institutions. Written, visual, and oral histories will be provided for the various institutions so please check our website frequently for updates. The main page of this website also houses a blog; this blog will be updated on a regular basis to provide educational and other information and notes related to the institutions outlined here. The ‘Offbeat’ section highlights historic Kentucky brothels, mortuaries, and Kentucky folklore and urban legends. Please remember that the website is an active work in progress and we will be providing more information as quickly and efficiently as possible. An e-Memorial has been provided and linked to the website should anyone want to post a public memorial to a loved one who spent time at or died in one of the institutions here. If you would like to contact us or provide additional information, photos, or stories, please click here. You can also visit and participate in our Facebook group. Welcome and thank you for supporting our community!
